The Paris Motor Show had plenty of points on which it could be improved. Here and there is not how you would describe the situation.

Something very interesting did happen at the event. The vast amount of journalists and automotive executives present there made for some interesting news and rumors.

The rumors are of less importance right now, here’s something that was confirmed by the Germans at Volkswagen.

Their infamous luxury flagship, the VW Phaeton is getting a follow-up model. It was dropped a couple of years back and most people thought it would be definite.

As it turns out, the Phaeton will waft once again. The tides don’t really seem to have changed within the company or on the market.

So why would a very successful car maker take another chance on a car that could easily be labeled as a mistake to begin with?

Believe it or not, it’s because of their main arch-rival in the United States. As Hyundai pushes for a more luxurious brand, they’re opening up the minds of people.

Those who aren’t ready to embrace Hyundai’s still child-like image may love the idea of a genuine luxury car that still feels like it’s from Germany.

Major changes for the VW Phaeton will be the way the car will lose a lot of weight thus making it more economical, better performing and ultimately cheaper to make.

We just don’t know what the plans are for the engine. Everybody is hoping for the W12 to make a comeback. It might, except with some more fuel efficient thinking behind it.
