The Electric Vehicle is really taking off lately and the latest effort on the matter comes to us from the Japanese at Mazda.
The Fuchu (yes, that’s really the actual place where the headquarters is) based company is going to start a new program similar to what Mini did with the E.
The electrically powered vehicle offered by Mazda will be based on the Demio (the Mazda 2 for the rest of the world) and it comes up with quite the promise.
Space isn’t the biggest attribute of the Mazda 2, and with a hunk of batteries in the back of it the EV version probably isn’t going to offer more.
On the side, lightness is great on the Mazda 2 and therefore, the range promised by the EV version is said to be somewhere around 125 miles.
That’s so far unrivaled and if Mazda’s real world testing results match it the eventual production version would be quite a success.
The program will be remarkably similar to what Mini did with their EV version, with “testers” being real world customers that are going to lease the vehicle over the trial period.
