There’s been plenty of surprises coming into focus at the Detroit Motor Show this year but Honda’s unveiling of the NSX wasn’t one of them.

Honda’s unveiling of the 2013 Accord Coupe, on the other hand, certainly was just such an occasion. It certainly bumped up the hope for an otherwise dull lineup.

On the record the 2013 Honda Accord Coupe is still rated as a concept, off it however we all know it’s just a few chrome parts away from an actual production model.

The pretty face also comes with an impressive personality package. The 2013 Honda Accord Coupe will come with a bit of nostalgia as the Japanese are hanging on to their 3.5 liter V6 engine.

More and more manufacturers are downsizing their top of the line model but this just isn’t happening here. The smaller 2.4 liter powerplant however gets a major revamp and now offers 181 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque for the CVT gearbox to send to the wheels.

Consider this “her” side of keeping the home fire going while still looking for the perfect curtains and a special paint shade.

Where the 2013 Honda Accord Coupe really stands out is in the Hybrid model. Not because it’s following this “futuristic” trend as much as because of just how complex a system Honda have come up with.

Details are pretty stuffy but what you need to know is that it does everything. You can disconnect the drivetrain you don’t need, you can mix them up and, if need be, you can plug it in to charge the batteries at home.
