Holden, the Australian brand that makes slightly different models of GM/Chevrolet products, have announced that they plan to make some new accessories.

These are aimed at the Colorado pickup, the model bought by Aussie rednecks working class who want to take a chance at making their car a custom product.

Unlike most accessory packs from manufacturers or aimed at redneck mobiles, these extra accessories are actually worth while.

There’s nothing here to make it look weird, mimic a full sized truck or cover it in weird badges from a more powerful model.

Every single one of the 38 new available accessories is useful in one way or another. The new alloy wheels and the body-coloured hard tonneau covers are the only weak parts of the equation.

Even they are actually useful. The wheels are sturdy bits of design rather than showoff chrome bits and the covers actually help protect cargo as well.

Some might argue that the new enormous bull-bar might be there just for show but let’s remember this is Australia. They use pickups there to mend fences and move cows so it is needed.

Another particularly useful feature for remote areas is the new snorkel kit. It may only be available for the 2.8 liter powered car but it makes a world of difference when faced with water.

You can have all of the bits individually or you can order them in certain packages depending on which part of the car you want to focus on.

It all seems like a great idea and though they’re not yet available in the US, after the love they will get in Australia that’ll likely change.
